Trip Itinerary

It's called the Wild Atlantic way for a reason. Experience the most rugged, stunning and natural stretch of Irish coastline with golf courses to match. This itinerary doesn't touch larger towns or cities unless you opt for a Sligo hotel option. Expect rural roads, small country pubs and a taste of Ireland of past. Asides from golf, there isn't that much to do in these rural areas but there are walks and drives you can take that stand up to anywhere in the world in terms of scenery. Remember, this itinerary serves just as an example of what your golf vacation could look like. Every aspect can be tailored to your liking- perhaps you'd like to break up the golf with a few days hiking and sightseeing, or perhaps you'd like to play more golf or extend your trip to play in Southwest or Northwest Ireland. Speak to a golf travel expert today to begin planning your dream itinerary.

Day 1 (Sunday)- Arrive, Shannon Airport

Meet & greet at Shannon Airport. 1hour transfer to Trump International Doonbeg.

Day 2 (Monday) - Lahinch

In 1894 when Old Tom Morris was commissioned to improve the course at Lahinch, he thought it was the best natural course he’d ever seen. He made excellent use of the giant sand dunes and natural terrain to create one of Irelands, and the worlds, greatest tests of links golf. Since then, Alasdair MacKenzie and Martin Hawtree have made further improvements, leaving us with the masterpiece which lies there today in the remote town of Lahinch. After golf, take a short drive to see the extraordinary Cliffs of Moher. Overnight, Trump Doonbeg .

Day 3 (Tuesday)- Trump International Doonbeg

One of Irelands newest links courses, Doonbeg was opened in 2002 and subsequently taken over by The Trump Organization and given a makeover. After Martin Hawtree’s works the course today has 16 holes with Atlantic sea views and has 5 par 5’s and 5 par 3’s. The character and soul of the land has flourished, you’d believe us if we told you the course had been there for 100 years.

Day 4 (Wednesday)- Free Day
Allow 3 hours if driving directly to your next hotel, Mount Falcon Estate. You could spend the afternoon fishing on The River Moy, or you could ask your driver to take you the scenic route along the coastline, taking in the beautiful scenery and stopping off at some cracking Irish pubs along the way. Overnight, Mount Falcon Estate.
Day 5 (Thursday) - County Sligo
County Sligo at Rosses point is a joy to play and host to many important amateur championships, including the annual West of Ireland Championship. The varied terrain, magnificent views and individuality of Sligo are sure to leave you wanting more. After golf head into Sligo for a whiskey at Thomas Connolys, a heritage Irish pub. Overnight, Mount Falcon Estate.
Day 6 (Friday)- Enniscrone (The Dunes)
The name of the course is quite fitting since 12 of the holes play through some of the largest sand dunes in Ireland. Any review you read of Enniscrone pays credit to the natural beauty of the course and surrounding areas, have your camera at the ready! “Unapologetic, unpretentious and wonderfully unrefined, authentic and irresistible”. Overnight, Mount Falcon Estate.
Day 7 (Saturday)- Carne Golf Links
On the remote and rugged Mullet peninsula, 150m above sea level lies Carne links, a tremendous course laid between unspoilt sand dunes. Despite its remote location Carne often ranks in the top10 courses in Ireland and top 50 in the UK & Ireland. In the words of Tom Coyne- “In any string of words I might pen over the rest of my life, I might never write a more true sentence than this: Carne is absolutely brilliant. Front nine, back nine, every hole, every hill, every inch of the place is simply special.”
Day 8 (Sundayday)- Depart, Shannon Airport.
Head back to Shannon today (2.5hours) to return home. Alternatively, you could bypass Shannon and continue to Killarney to extend your golf trip, or head North to Rosapenna to play St Patricks links and Ballyliffin. Speak to a golf travel expert today to create your perfect itinerary.

Pricing

This is just an example itinerary; we do not sell “off the shelf” packages. All of the golf trips we plan for our customers are bespoke, and so are the prices. Price depends on the dates you travel, party size, hotel rooms, transport choices, itinerary complexity and so on.

It’s no secret that booking through a tour operator like ourselves is more expensive than booking the golf trip by yourself . We’ve added links to all hotels and golf courses in the “at a glance” section if this is what you’re looking to do.

If however you’d rather leave the admin of 20 or 30 separate bookings to the experts and receive round the clock support and advice from a passionate, local golfer, then look no further. We’re confident in the level of service we provide to every customer and are proud to offer fair prices when compared to our competitors.
