Anna Mitsuoka We have been on hundreds organized trips over the last 10 years, some with hosts and some with host access. In June we did a 10 day golf trip to Ireland with Jack. When I was telling my other golf friends who have done a trip like this and Scotland they asked which hotels (plural) are you staying at? I looked confused and just said the hotel (singular) we stayed at. So to my point on what made this the best trip and experience ever….. - Upon arrival at the airport the driver was waiting for us with names on a sign to drive us 2 hours to Killarney Plaza Hotel. - We never had to move hotels. Jack had a coach bus pick us up everyday to drive us to the golf courses Killarney, Ballybunion Waterville, Old Head, Tralee. - We had dinners as a group which were reservations made by Jack. - Tee times, the “game” for the week was tracked and scored by Jack. - Bus had snacks, adult beverages, plenty of bottled water. - Jack was with us the entire time. The night before he’d be able to make morning massages for anyone who needed one before another great day of golf. Literally we showed up and golfed. There was zero stress about anything. We had a ride back to the airport in plenty of time to do all the airport stuff. I have and will continue to recommend Jack and Halcyon golf travel. I can’t wait to use the company again and to see Jack again and play golf. This was truly the BEST experience I have ever had on a trip! Until next time! Ignacio Yulis Lee (and Halcyon) were super easy to work with, planned our trip to a tee and, we’re always accessible when we needed them. I highly recommend them if you are planning a golf trip to Scotland. Steven Lai Visited England for the first time in my life with two of my best friends and had the greatest golf trip ever. We were able to play six rounds of golf spread over a seven day span at arguably six of the best golf courses in England, Royal Birkdale, Royal Lytham, Royal Liverpool, Walton Heath (Old), Sunningdale (Old) and Royal St. George's. Thanks to Halcyon Golf Travel for securing our tee times and awesome hotel accommodations for a ten night stay split between the Malmaison Liverpool and Bloomsbury Hotel in London. The icing on the cake had to be when Jack Sallis joined us for golf on our first round of our trip, played at Royal Birkdale. His golf tips and various golf and non-golf related stories were very helpful and entertaining. If you are considering a golf trip to England, Scotland or Ireland you should definitely contact Halcyon Golf Travel for their expertise in planning the perfect golf trip! Eric Tom We have taken golfing excursions to Scotland and Ireland, but our week in England playing its top courses was equally if not more memorable than any. Halcyon made it an easy, thoughtless trip for us. It was well-organized and perfectly scheduled, the latter something you do not appreciate until, for a couple of many examples, you are driving contra-flow at a time of day that works out so well or able to get a little more sleep one morning after a long day. We even got restaurant recommendations from Jack! I would highly recommend Halcyon for any of your British Isle trips. We plan to start all over again with Scotland in the near future! michael siegel Exceptional excursion impeccably curated and executed by Halcyon Golf. Three great courses and all travel details perfectly done. Harry Bains Lee and Jack at Halcyon made for a truly epic golf trip to Scotland (Fife and East Lothians). As someone who has typically planned trips myself I did question the use of a third party initially but by the end of the trip I am already thinking about my next trip with these guys! Some highlights: - Very clear agendas and transport timing - Transport always on time and were able to pivot if we needed to change plans. Drivers very personable and friendly - Lee was available on what’s app and given most trips to St Andrews involve ballot attempts for the old course he was available at an instant to modify tee times and shift the schedule - Provided access to Rusacks Hotel which had limited availability to the public Lee personally came up from his home in England and spent the night with us in St Andrews and walked the course at Kingsbarns. Very personal touch and not expected. He was very vested in us having a great trip and nothing came off transactional. Between not having to book any tee times myself and having seamless transport using Halcyon was worth it alone. The courses can be far apart and having on time transport was a key benefit I overlooked. Add in the local recommendations on dining, which courses to play, and extensive organization (using gsheets) is what created a special experience. The money spent was more than made up for by the world class experience! Best golf trip of all time. Rudy Rai Amazing host, great company to make your trip extraordinary! Jack is the best!! Mark Asher First class all the way! An amazing trip to golf in Ireland was made spectacular from every detail taken care of by Jack and Halcyon Golf Travel. If you want your trip to be perfect Jack is your mate! Takuya Davis Jack and his team were exceptional! He was there for our entire trip, both in Northern Ireland and in the South. Couldn't have asked for a more memorable golf trip. Thanks Jack and Halcyon Golf Travel! Paul My recent experience with Halcyon Golf Travel was first rate! From the very beginning of booking the trip, Jack and Lee were both informative and highly responsive. Any question I had was answered within 24 hours, and the materials supplied gave me great confidence long before my trip began. Upon arrival, Lee reached out to insure everything was to our satisfaction and to see if any additional assistance was necessary. The hotel they arranged was clean, comfortable, and very close to the St. Andrews golf courses. It also provided a substantial breakfast--a great way to start the day. They booked early tee times on a variety of courses, which allowed us to also book afternoon tee times. There was no shortage of great golf. The restaurant recommendations were spot on, so we could choose quality experiences from pub food to high-end dining. The arrangement for dinner at 18 in Rusacks Hotel provided an incredible and memorable event. To anyone considering a travel golf holiday in Scotland, Ireland, and/or England, I would strongly recommend using Halcyon Golf Travel services.Load more

The emerald isle is home to 7 of the worlds top 100 courses, however trying to play all of them in one trip requires at least 4 different hotels, or a lot of driving on small country roads. With the help of a Halcyon Golf Travel trip planner this is of course possible to organise, but for optimal “Craic” we recommend picking 2 locations to stay and play. This allows you to play a handful of world famous courses along with some amazing hidden gems you’ve probably never heard of. Not only does this bring down the cost of your golf vacation to Ireland, it gives you some time to explore, relax and enjoy a pint of Guinness at the local pub. The four main golfing locations are Dublin, Northern Ireland, North West Ireland and South West Ireland.
If you’re travelling all the way across the Atlantic for a once in a lifetime golf tour of Ireland, your first reaction will be to ignore this tip. Please read on, you should trust us on this one!
- A lot of the top courses in Ireland don’t allow golf carts, so walking 1 or 2 rounds every day (especially if you’re used to riding) can get tiring. Leave a rest day for a massage!
- Especially on the West coast, the weather can get a little wild. Leaving a free day gives you the option of skipping golf one day and moving it to the free day if the weather is too bad.
- Leaving a free day gives you the option of spontaneity! You might fall in love with a place and want to spend an extra day there, or meet a local who invites you to their home course.
- Ireland is full to the brim with hidden gems. Having a free day allows you to play that course you drove past that looked awesome.
- Ireland is famous for its castles and churches, amazing pubs and beautiful feats of natural beauty such as The Giants Causeway. Not to mention the Guinness factory and Irish whisky distilleries. Use your day off to explore Ireland.
A golf trip to Ireland wouldn’t be authentic without at least one day of lousy weather. Layering up with thin layers is the best way to go for links golf as the weather can change quickly. Rain gloves, waterproofs and a snood are essentials for golf tours in Ireland.
In parts of Ireland the roads can be very small, windy and of course you drive on the left. If you opt for a self drive option then planning to drive when its light can prove very useful. If you’re used to driving an automatic transmission, make sure thats what your rental is (it usually costs a little more). The rental cars here are smaller than in the USA, so pack accordingly. If you’re in a group larger than four then its definitely worth paying extra for a driver guide. It will be a much more relaxing experience and means everyone can enjoy a drink after their round. Your personal Halcyon Golf Travel trip advisor will be at hand to help you choose the most appropriate transport option for your golf trip to Ireland.
Remember Northern Ireland uses pounds (£) and Ireland uses Euros €. The pound is generally around 10-20% stronger than the euro. It’s cheaper to exchange your cash at home rather than at the airport / cash machines in Ireland. You only need cash for paying caddies and tipping; most other things can be paid by card. We recommend downloading an app such as Revolut for card payments, this ensures you get the best exchange rates and minimal fees for spending abroad.
Ireland is very well connected with the USA and the rest of the world. From the USA you have 2 direct flight options. Dublin (flights from 16 US cities) or Shannon (Flights from 5 US cities). The golfing geography of Ireland is easiest to understand split into four sections. Dublin, Northern Ireland, Southwest Ireland and Northwest Ireland. Dublin airport is obviously best for golf in the Dublin area and its easy to nip up into Northern Ireland to play Royal County Down and Royal Portrush. Shannon is best located for a Southwest tour of Ballybunion, Lahinch and Waterville. Its also easy to head directly North to play Rosapenna, County Sligo and Ballyliffin from Shannon.
"The Craic"
A luxury Ireland golf trip with Halcyon doesn’t just guarantee world class golf and organisation. Irish culture pays respect to “The Craic”, which essentially means having a good time. At Halcyon we know how much “good craic” can add to your experience during a golf trip to Ireland. It’s our mission to ensure your Guinness is creamy, the music is buzzing and the craic is exceptional from start to finish.

April and October are also great, there’s a lot less tourists but the airs a little crisper. It goes without saying the climate is a little temperamental in Ireland, so course maintenance relies partly on the previous few months weather but tends to happen out of season.
