Established in 1897, it’s a classic test of golf, with rolling fairways, deep bunkers and impressive, well-guarded greens. The course is famous for its natural beauty, with breath-taking views over the Firth of Clyde and the Isle of Arran in the distance.
While the course itself is the main attraction, Western Gailes is also famous for hosting prestigious tournaments such as The Scottish Amateur and The Amateur Championship. The club has a relaxed atmosphere, and while it’s a private members’ club, visitors are given a friendly welcome. We highly recommend stopping for lunch in the clubhouse, and make sure to check out the small golf museum up the stairs as you enter the clubhouse.
Overall, Western Gailes is a must-visit for golfers seeking a traditional and authentic Scottish golfing experience.
