Located in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, it features the historic Balgownie Links course, designed by Archie and Robert Simpson in 1888 and later modified by James Braid. Renowned for its challenging layout, the course has hosted prestigious events such as the 2005 Senior British Open, the 2011 Walker Cup, and the 2014 Scottish Open.
The front nine holes are particularly notable, winding through towering dunes along the North Sea coast, offering golfers a visually impressive and demanding experience. What makes the club particularly interesting is its connection to history, with a royal patronage from King Edward VII in 1903.
The course has no driving range, but it does have a short course called “The Silverburn” which has a loop of holes around the clubhouse you can play to warm up, just ask in the pro shop when you arrive!
Royal Aberdeen’s rich history and commitment to excellence make it a must-visit destination for golf enthusiasts.
