Designed by Archie Simpson with later enhancements by James Braid, the 18-hole, par 71 course stretches over 6,500 yards and is celebrated for its challenging layout and scenic coastal views.
Renowned for its traditional links characteristics, Murcar features undulating fairways bordered by gorse and heather, demanding precise shot-making. Notably, the 7th hole, named ‘Serpentine,’ requires a tee shot over a burn, followed by a demanding approach to a well-guarded green.
Murcar Links has a storied history of hosting prestigious events, including the European Challenge Tour’s Scottish Challenge in 2006 and the European Boys’ Team Championship in 2013. Its consistent ranking among Scotland’s top courses, such as being placed 42nd in National Club Golfer’s Top 100 Courses in 2024, underscores its esteemed status in the golfing community.
