The club’s current course, redesigned in 1925 by renowned architect Alister MacKenzie—famous for Augusta National—features his signature undulating greens and strategic bunkering.
The 18-hole, par-72 course spans approximately 6,813 yards and is uniquely set on free-draining limestone terrain, offering a heath-like playing surface reminiscent of links courses. Notably, holes 6 through 10 traverse a disused limestone quarry, adding distinctive character and challenge to the layout.
Over the years, Cork Golf Club has hosted several significant tournaments, including the Irish Open in 1932 and various professional and amateur championships. The club has also been home to prominent golfers such as Jimmy Bruen, winner of the British Amateur in 1946.
With its rich history, challenging design, and scenic location along Cork Harbour, Cork Golf Club offers a memorable experience for golfers of all levels.
