Established in 1901, the club has evolved into a premier destination for golf enthusiasts seeking both challenge and scenic beauty.
The Mussenden Links, a par-73 championship course measuring 6,805 yards, is renowned for its classic links layout. Golfers navigate rolling sand dunes, undulating fairways, and strategically placed bunkers, all while contending with the ever-changing coastal winds. A standout feature is the fourth hole, aptly named “Leg O’Mutton,” a demanding 200-yard par-3 with a railway line to the right, a stream to the left, and a raised green, requiring both precision and nerve.
Complementing the Mussenden Links is the Bann Course, a par-34, 2,446-yard gem that offers a unique, testing but mainly fun experience. Designed by Billy Kane in the mid-1980s, this 9-hole course winds through towering dunes and offers spectacular views of the River Bann and Donegal. Notable holes include the par-5 fifth, “Bannview,” which plays downhill to a green nestled among sand dunes, and the par-3 third, “Kelly’s Eye,” protected by the course’s sole bunker. You couldn’t pack any more excitement into this tiny gem of a course if you tried!
