Established in 1892, the club holds a special place in golfing history, having hosted The Open Championship twice. The course is set in a stunning location, offering sweeping views of the English Channel and the nearby town of Deal, steeped in maritime heritage.
What sets Royal Cinque Ports apart is its traditional atmosphere, which emphasizes the core values of golf—honour, respect, and camaraderie. The clubhouse, a quintessential example of classic golf club architecture, exudes a welcoming charm, with its rich history and deep connection to the game’s roots. The club’s distinct identity is reflected in its Royal patronage, granted by King Edward VII in 1903, which adds to its prestige and allure.
One of the unique features of Royal Cinque Ports are its greens, we’d consider them the most unique set of 18 greens in England. From punchbowls to upturned saucers, the “half-pipe” style 12th green and the 16th green which feels like it has a dozen levels to it with a ferocious false front. The course tests skill and strategy, rewarding golfers who can appreciate its subtleties.
