I had twelve-plus years background in five-star and lifestyle hotels: Old Course Hotel, Gleneagles, Rusacks, Marine North Berwick, The Marine Troon, Dornoch Station, before making the jump into golf sales. That hotel background means I don’t just know the courses, I know the beds you’ll sleep in and the bar you’ll want a pint in afterwards.

What I like best about the job is getting to play a small part in someone’s dream trip, then hearing about it afterwards: which course stuck with them, whether the pub I slipped into the itinerary lived up to the hype. That feedback loop is the best part of the job.

I’ve personally played over 50 of the UK & Ireland’s Top 100 courses – check out some of my favourites below.

If we've put a course on your itinerary you've never heard of, trust the process. We're not filling space. That unfamiliar name is usually the one you'll be raving about for months after the trip.

My advice to clients
Quick facts
Top 5 coursesRoyal Dornoch, Waterville, Dumbarnie, Enniscrone, Brora
Favourite tripTwo and a half weeks with Adam, touring Ireland and Northern Ireland end to end, playing the best the island has to offer. The courses and hotels were exceptional, but honestly, the seafood chowder and a pint of Guinness every single day might be the thing I remember most
Best HGT momentThe team FAM trips. They're brilliant for building real, first-hand knowledge of courses, hotels and areas, but working remotely most of the year, they're also just a chance to actually be in a room with the team, usually laughing at my golfing ability
Outside of workLife outside HGT mostly revolves around a two-year-old who runs faster than I expect him to. When I get a spare hour, I'm either out on the bike somewhere in Scotland or playing guitar
